THE AMAZING IJEN CRATER
The Ijen volcano complex is a group of composite volcanoes in the Banyuwangi Regency of East Java, Indonesia.
The phenomenon has occurred for a long time, but beforehand there was no midnight hiking. A two-hour hike is required to reach the rim of the crater, followed by a 45-minute hike down to the bank of the crater. The blue fire is ignited sulphuric gas, which emerges from cracks at temperatures up to 600 degrees Celsius.The flames can be up to five meters (16 feet) high; some of the gas condenses to liquid and is still ignited.
It is the largest blue flame area in the world and local people refer to it as 'Blue Fire'.

KEMIREN VILLAGE
Meet the Osing Tribe of Kemiren Village, who are still eagerly preserving their ancestor's elaborate tradition and rituals. The history of Kemiren dated way back to the time of the fallen days of Majapahit Kingdom. Where many of the population fled to various region to start a new life. The ancestors of the Osing then resides in the eastern part of Java named Banyuwangi and promptly established the Blambangan Kingdom. They declined to move back to Majapahit, and therefore named as the "Osing" people, which in their language means "no”. After 200 years of glory, the Hindu Buddhist culture of Blambangan then overthrown by the rapid growth of Islam, which led to the new reign of the Islamic Mataram Kingdom.
At Kemiren village, you can also marvel to their philosophical language portrayed in the details of their art. Because like many tribes, the Osing also have a special batik patterns, heirloom weaves, remarkable dancing’s, inspiring music and many rituals.

  • ABOUT IJEN
    Ijen plateau or known as 'Kawah Ijen' is highly recommended to mountain buffs and hikers. The Plateau was at one time a huge active crater, 134 sq km in area. Ijen is a quiet but active volcano, and the landscape is dominated by the volcanic cones of Ijen (2,368 asl) and Merapi (2,800 asl) on the northeastern edge of the Plateau, and Raung (3,332 asl) on the southwest corner. The vent is a source of sulfur and collectors work here, making the trek up to the crater and down to the lake every day.

    HOW to GO THERE
    1 hour driving from the city of Banyuwangi to Patulding Post. Starting point is from Paltuding Post with a 40 degree elimination angle for trekking path.

    WHAT to PREPARE
    1. Your health. This mountain well knows as a sulfur's source and you will smell the sulfur from the Patulding Post. We will provide you a gas mask to prevent it but it would be better that you have to discuss with your doctor before take this tour.
    2. We will pick you up at 00.00 from whenever you stay, since The Blue Fire will be visible at 03.00 am and it will lasts for 45 minutes.
    3. We recommend you to take some rest after trekking, therefore we will return you to the hotel for breakfast and have some nap before continue to another tour.

    THE FACTS about IJEN
    You will meet The Miners. They are the traditional sulphur miner which still hike and down to the crater. There are 200 miners, who extract 14 tons per day. Each kg will be paid around USD9 and it was a prestigious job for them. They manage to deliver up to 110 kgs per day per person. How amazing!
